Massive Overspend Threatens Fledgling Tory Central Bedfordshire Authority

An eight million pound overspend has sent CBC departments into a tailspin. Cuts and savings are top priorities. How did this happen? Omissions, miscalculations, underestimates - and now 'some necessary duplications' - instead of the much vaunted economies of scale and improved services for all. These, like jam, are for tomorrow (and how many more tomorrows?)
Cuts will hit across the board. Saving a mere £25000 a year, the Tories have backtracked on their carbon reduction promises by not using green energy tariffs for authority premises. Yet they justify a £250000 golden handshake for the outgoing acting CEO, and £180000 + a year, for the new incumbent. Lib Dem councillors are fighting for a fairer deal for residents.
